My series of party drawings, ranging from large-scale to tiny pieces, depict panoramic party landscapes, highlighting the contradictory aspects of rave culture and the tension between cultural resistance and capitalist domination. The compositions are formed from screenshots I made from internet videos, as a kind of collage. I quickly started to look at the women I found. Though there were few such images, I felt a connection: I was none, yet somehow all of them. This process felt like rescuing these women from their moments of vulnerability, as they were often depicted online under humiliating titles.
For me, it's as if the images of these women now coexist in a place where they can drink themselves to death in freedom and sorority. As if somehow, even if only in fiction, they could free themselves from that aggressive gaze that judges.
In a broader sense, this work illustrates the complex legacy of rave culture as a politically significant movement and the importance of creating spaces for free expression and experimental life.
